The MICC core team sincerely thanks Daniela Jungova, Stephanie Wolfe, David Morris, Gil Crawford, Joe Saliuna and Lee Shroer for contributing their time, effort and passion to the first of the new year's organized clean-up and maintenance day held Saturday, January 21, 2023, on Minnie's Island. Their collective efforts were a huge success.
It was a beautiful, crisp morning to be in nature, with temperatures in the low-to-mid 40's. However, the volunteer crew's hard work, thermoses of steaming hot coffee, fresh donuts, a large burn pile and a well-fueled wood burning stove kept everyone nourished and warm. A special shout-out goes to "Chef" Neil, who fired up the grill at lunch time and treated us to delicious meatball sandwiches, using his mother's secret tomato sauce recipe.
Having considered the logistics of getting people, tools and supplies to and from the island, the core team determined that 6 is the magic number of volunteers needed at monthly volunteer events given current work objectives. We are looking forward to the next volunteer day which is already packed on Saturday, February 25. However there are still a few spots open for our March event! We do hope that others among you will join the ongoing efforts to revitalize and maintain this very special place. If you are interested, please sign up here: Volunteer | MinniesIsland.
